Have you tried Magento by the way? I'd be keen to hear your thoughts. That's what we've decided to use for our clients and have worked on quite a few sites now since Magento launched in (I think) 2008 (or was it 2007?), however we are custom Magento developers so maybe that means we FAIL your 2nd question!!!
