hostingsthatsuck.com SERP Review for HostGator Web Hosting:
Web Hosting Total Pages
About Web HostTotal “Suck” Pages
About This HostHate/Pages Ratio HostGator 10,000,000+ 1,000+ 0.01 %
Think again. Do not dismiss the fact that HostGator is one of the best domain web hosting companies in the industry today, hosting more than 1 million domains! They are one of the best web host resellers in the market. Haven’t you read the other positive HostGator reviews elsewhere? HostGator does more than what a hosting company should do. Other reviews have summarized that HostGator actually answers their phones, replies to their emails, responds to live chat requests, doesn’t rip you off, and provides reliable quality hosting. So among the hundred thousands of satisfied clients, surely they will be a few who disagree. Let us look at the numbers above.
From the above number, only 1 out of every 10000 pages about HostGator says that this hosting sucks. This is still quite good considering other hosts we have looked at have way worst ratio. In addition, according to a study conducted by America’s premier customer services research firm, TARP, customers are more likely to speak about a company when things go wrong rather than when they go right. On average, customers are twice as likely to talk about a bad experience as they are to share a positive one. So we can safely say that for every negative comment about Hostgator, there are two more good Hostgator reviews we did not hear about. Looking at the big picture, the hate pages are almost negligible.

I work as a freelance computer programmer doing web applications and database programming. So I have several years experience dealing with a variety of different hosting companies. One of my biggest clients, who sub-contracts alot of work to me, was setting up all of their clients’ websites to be hosted at BlueHost. Mainly because they were cheap and promissed alot.
At first it seemed like a decent hosting company. But after a while I started to notice all of the sites we had hosted there slowing down greatly and then started to notice alot of down time. When this first started to occur I called their tech support and found out they were under what is called a denial of services attack from some hackers in China. This is actually very common. What is not common though is a hosting company that has no clue how to deal with it.
The first time it happened I gave them the benefit of the doubt and was very patient while they took almost a month to get the sites back up and running half way decent. But in the months to come it was happening all of the time. I could never get any development work done on the sites we were building and the sites that were live were down more often then they were up. And the ones that would still come up were extremely slow and produced tons of errors on the pages.
I again called their tech support when they again told me they were under a denial of services attack and as a result they had to disable many basic and common services on the server which is what was causes the errors. They did this without informing or warning any of their customers and then told me that it would be at least 2-3 weeks before they could turn them back on.
As I said before I have several years dealing with a variety of hosting companies and BlueHost is by far and without a doubt the worst option available anywhere on the internet!
Several months ago I began testing several other hosting companies to find a replacement for the accounts I had hosted at BlueHost. The one that I am the most happy with is HostGator. I have had no performance issues whatsoever with them. They have a 99.999% uptime garauntee and they take that very seriously. They have 24/7 tech support by phone and live chat. Their cPanel is the same as with BlueHost. And they have hosting plans as low as $4.95 per month.
If you are currently hosted at BlueHost and have noticed the same problems that I did I highly recommend you take a look at HostGator. And if you are thinking about hosting a site at BlueHost… Don’t waist your time and money.
i agree with you
. I like hostgator, because this support is very friendly with me.
Rico speaks the truth. I had similar problems with bluehost. Plus if someone launches a complaint about your page because you have a swear word on it, kiss it goodbye. Hostgator doesn’t care though. They absolutely rock and I’ve never had any problems.
I am a hostgator.com customer and I have had a range of nightmarish experiences with billing. They’re customer support staff is great. You’ll love the 24/7 assistance. With all the money they’re bringing in, I hope they get a billing system with quirks in it. My issues only happen once a twice a year. Overall, it’s a good hosting company.
I’m a hostgator costumer, they service awesome, lucky me move from out host to gator, i’m never complain about gator services..
anyway, i am just use baby croc packet, and gator act like i have a dedicated server on they data center….
My blog never down since i move it to gator…
Hostgator is good webhosting. I recommend it.
Guys :
This will be both a statement and a question I need to post here. First of all I have 40+ websites with my $9.95 hosting account at hostgator and I can hardly remember having any trouble with them for the nearly 3 years that I´ve been using them… probably once my website were loading mildly slow and they fixed it in 15 mins.
However, owning a business that is growing, I´m nearly decided to hava an alternate hosting options for my new websites and just for precaution I want different company… just to not have all the eggs in the same basket in the case of a catastrophe. Said so,
1. any ideas who´s second to best ?? (provided that hostgator is #1)
2. Small poll : If you where me, would you stick to a reliable hosting company ? or would you “split the load” as I plan to do, although the extra time that means overseeing 2 different hosting accounts.
Thanks for the comments !
Nelson
Congratulations for being with the best web hosting company for many years now. I have to agree that Hostgator is by far better than other big web hosts like Bluehost, Hostmonster, 1&1 and Godaddy. We also have hundreds of domains with Hostgator and we never had a problem with them… and we truly hope this will go on forever
However, we do split our domains into several baskets and we have our MySQL databases backed up every few days and sent to our emails. We have accounts with ICD soft, Stable-host and Pronethosting. These smaller and fast growing companies can be good alternative to the bigger names and they do have better customer service and uptime most of the time. Another good hosting would be InMotion Hosting.
Has anybody ever had dealings with ME Webhost? What do you think about it?
i have been with host gator for many years and i have never had any bad issues when i was on a small package and my site was getting high traffic they did kill my site for taking up to much CPU and this was overcome fast because of there live support chat also i did get an email warning me before they killed my site i now have a Dedicated server with them and i can tell you know there support team don’t care if your Dedicated or a small package everyone gets the same level of support and i was glad to see this when i got my Dedicated package they did not change the way they give support to me that is a 1st h and sign of a good website and saying host gator sucks is a little Over the top with all the websites they host there is no way that no body is going to have issues its all part of web life
I am a webmaster of my company. Since Hostgator is giving unlimited disc space even on their Baby plan, I am thinking of using this extra space to store and share some office files with my coworkers. Would this be okay you think?
I don’t think that is such as good idea. Although Hostgator is one of the most lenient web hosts in terms of suspending accounts, you should not be using their service to store non-related files or even sharing the files around.
Let us also be fair to the others on your shared hosting server and I would strongly suggest you use ElephantDrive if you need Unlimited space for storing and sharing other work files.
