I can’t recommend UK2.net – problems from the start, very bad service and the people there don’t know what they are doing. Mostly unfriendly, not helpful. I wonder, if this post will be shown. UK2.net is a virtual host, thats why you can’t find any numbers.
Hi Jill,
What kind of problem did you have with them? Can you be more specific. And why can’t I find any numbers for a virtual host?
uk2.net sucks ! They have been unable to link my domain with my web space, I’ve wasted a whole day emailing their support, each time they have emailed me to say they are sorry and that now the problem should be resolved but it isn’t. Unless you require a certain feature (I’m after word press) from uk2.net I would avoid them. I have been with 1&1 for many years have had no problems with them
I have been with UK2.net for more than a year.
Until the last few weeks there were not any problems.
Last few weeks e-mail troubles have plagued them.
Support has always been very good and in depth (I’m very new to all this so needed it)
Only last few weeks have there been bad support and problems, due I think, to new infrastructure being put in place.
I’m due for renewal in March so will see how they get on when it comes up.
I kind of agree with Andy. 4 weeks ago all my sites went down for 7 hours.
Before that I had an account suspended so sending out a newsletter to quite a few people (3000 in actual fact). I had notified them beforehand that I would be doing this (deliberately late at night) which they agreed to.
Right now as we speak there is a problem with the server which I only found out about when a few clients called up with email problems. All of my e-commerce sites are also currently not working because of the same issue.
Needless to say I’ll be moving to a new company when I can transfer all of my accounts off their servers.
Anyone want nearly a year of free unreliable hosting?
The main reason that there aren’t many links to ‘uk2 sucks’ sites is because the uk2 boss known as Ditlev goes around offering payment to take down sites..SLEAZY!!
I have to agree with the others, i had a technical issue with my e-mail, submitted a ticket on the 18th of August and last week it was finally solved, after mailing them 7x. Now i wanted to add more domain names and link them to my business package. To call suppoert u pay 50p p/m but i have called them 8x in the last 2 days but nobody is answering the phone! I called sales i get all sorts of excuses about people off for lunch ,busy etc. And sales doesn’t even know they are open till 7pm. And they don’t want to help me any further. After reading all the review sites for the last hour i have come to the conclusion that my new site is going to be hosted by another company.
Any suggestions?
I suggest you try one of the best business web host in the market today, inMotion hosting.
I have been with UK2 now for many years and they host multiple domains for me, but the service is diabolical when things go wrong. Last week all the emails system crashed and a week later I still have email accounts I cannot access. I have raised support tickets which have eventually been answered and supposedly resolved the problem, but not yet! I’m still waiting for them to get it sorted and respond. I am in the process of migrating to another host, which is cheaper and offers more facilities than UK2, hopefully a better service too. I would recommend anyone looking for a webhost/email to go elsewhere.
I also have been without email for 8 days. My service desk request was deleted! Subsequent service desk requests have been answered with a copy and paste from their service heartbeat page from their website. I have been with UK2.net for almost one year and this is not the first problem. I have had problems previously accessing email, although not as bad as this latest problem. There have also been times when my website simply wasn’t available.
I’ve been extremely disappoined with their service and will be migrating to another hosting company when my current contract expires.
UK2 totally sucks.
Uk2.net does indeed suck!
I have had enormous problems with their email hosting system and tried calling their ‘fantastic’ 50p a minute general enquiry & tech support line – which has not been answered once in three days of repeated calls, without luck.
They’ve not even had the decency to reply to my tech support mail messages – which they allege to answer ‘very shortly’ and I’ve been leaving them for the last week, without answer. I’m a busy Gardening company and I do alot of business via the web and search engines and I Know I’m losing work as a result of this.
So I’m afraid, perhaps in the minority indeed but uk2.net in my opinion do actually suck!!
a very annoyed previously long term customer.
UK2.net are the worst hosting service out there, they I believe are a re-seller using Joker.com they constantly have down time but deny and have in the last week or so made changes to email servers which has left loads of issues. when you try and contact them they send stock answer after stock answer not even bother to read what you send. For me email forwarding has stopped working, so they have told me it is nothing to do with them and I should contact Hotmail, Gmail Yahoo etc as it must a be fault at there end!!!!! they are cheap and when it works it is ok, but when it goes wrong your only option is to leave and find another provider!
UK2.net sucks! Recently I received an e-mail saying that my domain registration was due to expire. It had instructions as to how to extend the registration. The instructions did not work, a link that I was supposed to click on simply did not exist on my account management page! When I clicked on ‘manual renewal’ it said that I had no services due for renewal. Then, a couple of months later the domain registration did indeed expire. At that point I was finally able to renew the domain registration. Since then, though, my website url has been redirecting to a UK2.net page saying ‘this domain has been registered by a UK2.net customer’ (yeah I know. Me.) I’ve no idea what I need to do to reinstate my website – there’s absolutely nothing on the account management page saying what’s happened. i can’t ftp up to the site. no response from support. very frustrating.
Update to my above comments: My UK2 server was fixed within 2 hours of raising a support ticket. It’s just a shame that they couldn’t have a secretary answering the phone and answering tickets saying that it is being looked at, while the engineers get on with fixing the problem.
I should also add that they normally respond very quickly and well to support tickets.
Better the devil you know…
I am having exactly the same problem as Ted Waine. Can’t get through on any phone line. Raised multiple tickets. Followed the instructions, but the locations referred to don’t respond. Losing my domain … Very very frustrating. A customer for 10 years and I say UK2.net sucks.
Their server setting sucks. I have client who need google checkout. I have many site working like “Cham” & same code sucks here. Developers be careful if your client want to host their sites with this company.
