We often hear people complaining that their web hosting service or the ecommerce solution provider sucks, but the statement is never backed by quantitative facts and numbers.

For all the geeks that we are, we can’t resist pouring numbers to every aspect of life, and here’s an interesting way to look at Amazon Webstore to see if it is one of the best ecommerce hosting solution today:

  1. Open an Excel sheet for data processing.
  2. Google “Amazon WebStore” and record down the number of results returned, say result ‘A’. We found about 2,000,000 results.
  3. Google “Amazon WebStore sucks” and record down the number of results returned, say result ‘B’. We found more than 80 results for this search.
  4. Divide result ‘B’ (the number of “sucks” result) by result A.
  5. The answer of the equation in (4) is the “Suckage Ratio”- the lower the number, the better the hosting company you’re reviewing.

The be more accurate, we should also search for “Amazon Web Store sucks”, “amazon webstore sux”, “Amazon Webstore complains”, and other variation of misspells, just incase some smart a** cannot even spell the e-commerce hosting name right, and then we add these numbers to figure B.
